On December 13, 1920, Hans Riegel registered the name HARIBO, an abbreviation of Hans Riegel – Bonn, in the Trade Register of Bonn.
The initial capital of HARIBO consisted of a sack of sugar, a marble slab, a chair, a stove attached to the wall, a copper kettle, and a rolling pin.
In 1922, Hans Riegel laid the cornerstone of HARIBO’s upcoming success by creating the “Dancing Bear” – a small gummy bear figure made of fruit jelly, which later became the world-famous HARIBO Goldbear.
HARIBO entered the Bulgarian market in 1996.
